o Wyman Park and Tabor Park (Next to the Sullivan Civic Center)
Located on the north end of Sullivan either Main Street or Worth Street to get to Wyman Park. Go North on Worth Street to get to Tabor Park. Wyman Park was established in the will of Albert Wyman in 1912. This beautiful park has playground equipment, a stocked fish pond, tennis courts, basketball courts, and baseball and softball diamonds, a Frisbee golf course, a Kiddie Koral for young children and fishing in the park, as well as covered pavilions and restroom facilities.

    The Lake Shelbyville is about 3 miles south from here. Lake Shelbyville is owned and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Wildlife is managed by the Illinois Department of Nature. The lake Shelbyville is a reservoir located in Shelby County, Illinois and Moultrie County, Illinois created by damming the Kaskaskia River at Shelbyville, Illinois. The lake’s normal surface pool is 11,100 acres at an elevation of 183 meters. The U.S Army Corps of Engineers maintains and operates a total of eleven recreation areas surrounding Lake Shelbyville, which include five campgrounds, three public beaches, eight primary boat ramps, and six high water boat ramps, two state parks and three marinas. Great opportunities for boating, fishing, fishing tournaments, swimming, water skiing, camping, hiking, picnicking, group picnic shelters, fish cleaning stations, trails, playgrounds, horseback riding and hunting. In the winter, enjoy ice fishing, snowmobiling and cross-county skiing. Private concessionaires lease land for marinas that are located on Lake Shelbyville.

o Coon Creek Recreation Area (CoE): Go 4 miles South of Sullivan Route 32, then make right turn towards Findlay for 7.7 miles, then turn left onto S Main St, then 3 miles at the end of the road turn right onto county HWY-5, then 0.3 mile turn left onto 2075 East Rd, then 1.2 miles turn right onto Coon Creek Estate Rd.

o Lone Point Recreation Area: Go 4 miles South of Sullivan Route 32, then right turn towards Findlay for 7.8 miles, then turn right onto Wright St, then 2.3 miles turn right onto 2325 N Shelby County Rd, then 0.7 turn left onto 2175 E Shelby County Rd, then go 1 -2 miles.

o Whitley Creek Recreation Area: Go 4 miles South of Sullivan Route 32 to the Bruce- Findlay road, then 1 mile west to the Whitley Creek Recreation Area sign, then go north 1.25 miles to the campground.

o Opossum Creek Recreation Area (CoE): Go 4 miles South of Sullivan Route 32, then right turn towards Findlay Co HWY-4 for7.7 miles, then turn left onto S Main St for 3 miles, then at the end of the road turn right onto County Hwy-5 for 2 miles ,then at the end of the road turn left onto County Hwy-5 for 2 miles, then at the end of the road turn left onto 1600 North Rd 1.9 miles, then the destination is on right after 1.2 miles.

o Dam West Recreation Area [Day Use] (CoE): The Dam West area is located immediately east of Shelbyville, Illinois. From East Main Street, turn north onto East Road and drive toward the dam. Take a right onto north 9th street into the recreation area.

• Hunting
Approximately 12,000 of the 23,000 land acres at Lake Shelbyville are forested. Oak and hickory are the dominant species. The remaining land acres are open or brush covered. Game species available for hunting include Dove, quail, rabbit, pheasant, whitetail, deer, grey and fox squirrel, wild turkey, fox, coyote, raccoon, woodcock, and waterfowl.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources manages the Shelbyville Widlife Area, located in two unites, the Kaskaskia Unit and the West Okaw Unit. Both are located in the northern ends of the lake.
Shelbyville Wildlife Area located along the Kaskaskia and West Okaw Rivers near Sullivan, the Lake Shelbyville Fish and Wildlife Management Area offers some of the best hunting, river fishing and nature study opportunities in the state.
